Botella Studio is a specialty source for authentic vintage Argentine seltzer bottles,1930s glass siphons, sourced and hand-restored in Buenos Aires. We work with private collectors and with the interior designers, hotels, restaurants, and event venues that use them at scale, in quantities from a single decorative bottle to installations of 400 or more.

It began at a Sunday flea market in San Telmo. In 1997, during a trip to Buenos Aires, our founder, Russell Johnson, stumbled upon the city's oldest market and discovered a family selling vintage seltzer bottles. These were heavy glass bottles from the 1930s, marked with the names of long-closed soda companies. He bought as many as he could carry and promised the family he would return.

Back in the States, Russell showed the bottles to some colleagues in interior design. They loved them right away, and the orders started flowing in. What began as an armful of glass from a market stall turned into The Seltzer Shop.

That promise came true. For almost thirty years, we have worked with the same family of restorers in Buenos Aires. They clean, rebuild, and hand-dip every bottle in our collection. Most of these siphons were nearly lost when Argentine soda switched to plastic in the 1980s. The ones that survived were rescued, one at a time, by a family that has spent decades searching the country for them. Every piece we sell is one kept from vanishing.

Today, that work continues as Botella Studio. We source and restore vintage Argentine seltzer bottles, using them as objects for the home and as installations for walls, bars, or rooms. The Seltzer Shop is our collection, while the studio brings it to life.
