Arco Iris Clear Vintage Argentine Seltzer Bottle, 750 cc

A vintage Argentine soda siphon in clear glass, c. 1930s–40s, from Arco Iris, a sodería at Isabel la Católica 845, Buenos Aires.

A raised band folds into a triangle across the glass, and inside it the name is molded in two words, Arco and Iris, with the number 1 between them. Arco iris is Spanish for rainbow, an unusual name for a bottle made of clear glass. The metal head repeats the company name and address, so the siphon could find its way back to the sodería that filled it.

It holds 750 cc, smaller than the classic one-liter siphon.

Original glass and head, restored by hand in Buenos Aires. There is only one.
